2023 NASHVILLE SUPERCROSS RESULTS
With the Monster Energy Supercross season coming into its final rounds, this week’s race at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium was more about championship strategy than race wins. In the 250 East class, that was especially true, as Hunter Lawrence had only to finish in the top 20 to clinch his first title. He did that and collected his 7th race win as well. The 450 class had a number of twists that had championship ramifications. Cooper Webb, Justin Barcia and Jason Anderson all had very hard crashes. Webb and Barcia would collect no points at all. Chase Sexton, on the other hand, did his best to keep the chase alive by hunting down and passing Eli Tomac to take the main event. 450 HEAT 1
Eli Tomac got the holeshot in 450 heat 1, but it wasn’t long before Cooper Webb was knocking. Webb made a pass attempt that went bad on the second lap and went down. In the process, he was hit by Adam Cianciarulo and just like that, Webb was out of of the race. He would be taken to the hospital for evaluation. Tomac won with a massive lead over Cianciarulo and Justin Hill.

450 HEAT 2
The second 450 heat was all about Ken Roczen, Justin Barcia and Chase Sexton. The three started off in front and quickly pulled away from the rest of the pack. On lap four, Barcia passed Roczen for the lead, and it wasn’t long before Sexton also got by. The three of them were still very close at the finish, with Dean Wilson following some 23 seconds back. Jason Anderson, who was already suffering the effects of a practice crash, fell again and was forced to go to the Last Chance Qualifier.

450 MAIN EVENT
Eli Tomac got a dream start and was several bike lengths ahead by the second turn. Chase Sexton was around fifth or so, but he passed his way into second place very quickly. When Tomac realized that Sexton was coming, he settled into a conservative pace and let the race play out. By the halfway point, Sexton passed Tomac and then steadily built up a sizeable lead. Justin barcia was running third at one point but fell hard and couldn’t get back into the race. That left third place up for grabs between Justin Hill and Ken Roczen. Roczen, who got a poor start, eventually pulled clear for another podium. Jason Anderson was little off his normal pace after his earlier crashes, but managed to finish sixth.

250 EAST MAIN EVENT
Jordon Smith made an aggressive pass to take the lead away from Hunter Lawrence on the first lap. Hunter looked like he might settle into second place, but five laps into the race, Smith took an off-track excursion and gave it back to Lawrence. Jo Shimoda moved into second and tried to make a run on Lawrence, but never got close enough to be a serious threat. Lawrence ticked off the laps and crossed the finish line to take the win and the championship. His brother Jett was waiting and they had an emotional celebration.
